Environmental Manager, Vail Mountain – Full Time, Year Round

Vail, CO

  • Conservation/Efficiency- Responsible for conservation of resources (water, energy, etc) and energy efficiency programs at the resort.  Manage relevant stakeholders (utilities, departments, etc) to reduce environmental impacts.
  • Compliance- Responsible for overseeing environmental, chemical and hazardous waste compliance at the resort.  Implement compliance auditing program and schedule to monitor effectiveness of programs, SOPs, and trainings. Create programs to address deficiencies.
  • Effectively communicate sustainable practices both internally and externally through existing and new channels
  • Capital Management: effectively manage complex capital projects that may involve multiple departments, time constraints, and external partners
  • Measurement/Record-Keeping- maintain accurate records of resource use, compliance, education, and other records as needed.
  • Innovation: Identify potential sustainable projects that grow our recognition and sustainable programs both at the resort and company-wide
  • Informed on Current Environmental Issues- Keep up-to-date on current environmental affairs from local to international levels.
  • Manage Budget within fiscal and budgetary constraints.
  • Community- involvement in local non-profits, community groups, and volunteering is needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • College degree –  required
  • Ski Area Operations experience – preferred
  • Computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency  – required
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather – required
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs – required
  • Advanced skiing ability – preferred
  • Spanish speaking – preferred
  • Previous experience with workplace environmental/sustainability efforts – preferred
